On 18 December, Qatar will commemorate its unification in 1878. Happy Qatar National Day is celebrated annually with various traditional activities and costume displays, military parades, fireworks, and Qatari flag displays nationwide.

As announced by the organizing committee, the Qatar National Day slogan this year is ‘Al Maali Kaydah,’ which means that the path of excellence is difficult.

The citizens celebrate Qatar National Day with great enthusiasm. Many events are set up for enjoyment purposes. The day and night events are organized at different places. Qatar National Day Event Timings 2023 are shared before the events are started. These events bring people close together in sharing happiness. Qatar National Day Events include face paintings, food competitions, fun games, and many more. Qatar National Day National Parade

Corniche Road, Qatar | 18 December | 9:00 AM

The parade is closed to the public due to COVID-19. (Only Invitation)

A fantastic parade where people will enjoy a parade by MOI, Emiri Guards, Lekhwiya, Civil Defense, and other governmental bodies. There will also be aerial and sea displays by the Air Force and Navy. The Corniche Road will be closed from 6:00 AM!

Qatar National Day Air Show

According to the Qatar Gourment, the Qatar National Day air show for this year 2023 will only be part of the Qatar National Day parade.

Qatar National Day Fireworks (Al Sharakhiat)

Corniche, Qatar | 18 December | 8:30 PM

There’ll be music, lights, and giant fireworks. Last year, the fireworks were in sync with a story. Make sure to get a good spot! QND Fireworks are held at the Corniche as part of National Day events on December 18, 2023, to celebrate the National Day of the State of Qatar.

Doha Festive Lighting

Qatar citizens and residents will be treated to eight interactive installations, one musical water show, and the largest-ever monumental LED installation in Qatar at the Corniche from Al Masrah Park to Pearl Monument.

Fireworks at The Torch Doha Hotel

Katara Fireworks Display

A fireworks display will take place tonight in Katara at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate Qatar National Day 2023.

Doha Festival City will hold the following festivities for this year’s Qatar National Day.

Classic Car Show

This event is not be held this year 2023 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Just like every year, people will be able to enjoy a blast from the past when Qatar was modernizing. You’ll get to see a rare collection of classic cars that government officials used to use.

Traditional Boat Show

Not be held this year 2023 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Enjoy two displays of various styles of Qatari boats and dhows. It’s great to see these beautiful vessels that helped the older generation survive.

Palm Tree Illumination

Corniche (and around Qatar) | 15th – 31st December | Night

Don’t forget to pass by the Corniche, to check out how the Palm Tree Illumination! It’s a beautiful sight. Honestly, we wish it could always look like that.

Kids Activities

Kids will get a chance to play games, have fun, and just enjoy the different entertainment shaped around National Day.

Al Izbba

Darb Al Saai | Not be held this year 2023 due to coronavirus pandemic.

Al-Izbba is where a man is away from home, looking after camels in the wild valleys and deserts. Come and look at what the site used to look like and how it was managed.

Al Nasa (Rifle shooting)

Qataris are well known for rifle and shotgun shooting as a sport. Come on down to learn how to shoot for yourself! Professional trainers will be supervising and teaching the traditional principles of Al Nasa.

Al Shaqab (Horse Riding)

Take beautiful horses, dress them up in traditional dressage, enjoy a great horse show, and also enjoy riding them too!

Pearl Illumination

Remember Palm Island? No? Well, it used to be a micro-resort before it was sadly removed. There will be a beautiful illumination for everyone to enjoy now.

Traditional Games

Come and play traditional Qatari games like sculpted tops, sticks and tires, kook, and more! It’s fun seeing how we grew up before iPads and PlayStations.

Al Mishabayh (Oryx)

Darb Al Saai | Not be Held Due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

Learn about one of Qatar’s native animals, the Oryx. You’ll understand how they breed them, take pictures, and perhaps even pet some too.

Arda and Poetry

Darb Al Saai | Not be Held Due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

This will be super fun. A competition between schools and senior professionals where they share their poetic skills and also perform an Arda (a local dance with swords).

Traditional Activities

Ritz Carlton | Not be Held Due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

Sounds mysterious, but honestly, that’s all we know. There are going to be traditional activities held at the Ritz.

2030 Train Tour

Corniche | Not be Held Due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

It’s a special tour for kids where they get to see three stations showing the evolution of Qatar. Jump on board the 2030 train.

Traditional Tent

Katara – Esplanade | Not be Held Due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

A traditional tent featuring accomplishments and items by the Al-Gannas Society (Arab Hunters). There will be an Al-da o (the Lure) show as well!
